IODISED SALT-BOON OR BANE?

The  Government  has  implemented a policy  of  sprinkling  iodine  and thereby  supposedly  iodising  salt. This  has  done more harm.
the  small traders  who were   selling  crystal salt  for a throwaway  price   are  totally  excluded from salt  market
salt  merchants  have  come into the picture
salt merchants  purchase salt  at  the least  capital  and  sprinkle  iodine  then they  add a logo  market  insert ads  and  influence  human minds  by television  and whoof- you  have  so called  iodised  salt on the table.
there is  no natural  table salt-only  packeted salt bundles.
How  rich are they in iodine?
Mostly the  random sampling  of salt is  not  done at all .there  is no quality control. If  sampling  is  done it  shows  iodine has  not  penetrated   and therefore the percentage  of iodine  in the overall  salt  is not the same.
what  are the disadvantages?
Scientific  studies  have  proven that    iodised  salt  in iodine  sufficient  areas  alters  the iodine metabolism and  creates  inflammation  of thyroid  cells leading  to  thyroiditis  .
This   in the  long run    may  lead  to cancer .
Should  the  Government revise  the policy?
Yes  .An emphatic  yes.The policy  should  be  iodised  salt in iodine deficient  area.
should  iodised salt  be banned?

No. IODISED SALT  IS  VERY  USEFUL  TO PREVENT ENDEMIC GOITRE  IN IODINE  DEFICIENT  AREAS ONLY.
